Rural Fencing

Numerous varieties of rural fencing are available. Each style can be modified to cater to your specific needs. Some of the more common services are listed below. Contact us with your request and we will endeavour to assist you.

  • Batten and Wire

Batten and wire fences are usually 7 or 8 wire (2.5mm hi-tensile). The posts can be #1 or #2, which denotes the quality finish. Posts are usually spaced at 4.5m, with 5 battens per space. However, each fence can be modified to suit the client requirements and the terrain.
Other wire options are 3.15mm hi-tensile, #8 soft wire etc.

  • Electric Wires

Electric fences can increase the functionality of the fence and make them more stock proof, e.g. outriggers can be used on post and rail fencing to keep horses apart. Electric wire systems can be added to new or existing fencelines. Our contractors can also assess your existing electric fences and repair if possible and/or replace.

  • Strainers and stays

Strainers are the large fence posts that are used to give the fence extra strength and provide anchoring points. Strainers will be used at the openings (gateways) on each angle. The tension on a wire fence is such that a normal posts will be pulled from the ground. A stay (which provides extra support) will also be added to each angle. Each strainers/stay is priced in addition to the standard fence costs so it is advantageous to plan the fence line carefully to ensure that a minimum number of angles is required. Our contractors are very experienced in farm fencing for stock control and aesthetics so can advise you on the most economical and functional plan for your fencing.

  • Gates

Ferguson Contractors will install any type of gate, timber and steel, rural gates. If the size or style of gate that you require is not able to be sourced we can custom make any style of timber gate. Our contractors are also able to relocate and/or re-swing existing gates.

  • Post Ramming

In some cases you may only need to have the post rammed and you are able to complete the project yourself. Our contractors have rammed posts for all types of rural fence, retaining walls, residential style fencing, tree surrounds, shade houses. We have excellent equipment which is a very efficient method of installation. A travel/transport charge is required for any tractor services.
